Dental Bonding / Composite Fillings
What is a Composite Restoration?
A composite restoration is a tooth colored plastic mixture filled with glass (silicone dioxide) used to fill cavities after decay is removed.
How can composite/bonding help?
It is a conservative and cost effective approach to restore your teeth that are chipped or decayed. Composite is natural and esthetic and can be used for cosmetic procedures such as changing the color of your teeth from staining, reshaping disfigured teeth, or closing small gaps.
Esthetics are a main advantage
The dentist can blend shades to create a color nearly identical to your tooth. Composite is an alternative to metal fillings if needed or desired to change your existing ones.
The Process
Dental bonding is a one dental visit procedure that can last about 30 mins depending on the procedure with little to no local anesthetic. The Dentist bonds the composite to your tooth and shapes the material to mimic a natural tooth.
